About Bayview Village
The Gerber Group specializes in Bayview Village for a number of great reasons. John and his team have been helping clients who live or want to live in Bayview Village since 1967.
John, a homeowner in Bayview Village himself is particularly fond of the community, unique homes, the history and the incredible forested properties.
A quarter of all the property in Bayview Village is green. Throughout Bayview Village there are numerous parkettes, including the child focused fun spots, Blue Ridge Park and Bayview Village Park. One of the strongest features of Bayview Village is that it is located on the western edge of the beautiful and magnificent East Don Parkland with trails and walkways to take you into a tranquil "Muskoka" beauty without leaving the city.
This great community has grown substantially since its early conception in the 1930s and remains situated among incredible wilderness. Some of the healthy deer population occasionally visits some of the gardens backing onto the wild ravines. The Village's shopping, recreation and businesses are very successful and continually attract people to the area.
The well known Bayview Village Shopping Centre was built on forty acres of land in 1963 and was completely renovated /enlarged in 2005 to include the best retail stores available.
Among the many, many fascinating historical facts on this great area, you will be interested to know how the street names were derived. Since Bayview Village was laid out on the lands used by the Eglinton Hunt Club member and developer, A.W. Farlinger, many of the streets were names for riding activities and famous racehorses, such as Hi Mount Drive, Tally Lane, and Palomino Court. Some streets bear the names of racehorses, many of which had taken place in King's or Queen's Plate races - Citation Drive, Bunty Lane, Flaremore Crescent, Hawksbury Drive, and King Maple Place.
(Please note: For more detailed history on Bayview Village, the Bayview Village Association has produced a book titled, "Bayview Village: From Farmland to One of Canada's Most Picturesque Communities". This book can be ordered from Douglas Webster, 7 Sutcliffe Drive, 416.221.5870)
